How To Measure Your Wrist For The Perfect Bracelet Size (super accurate method)

Are you wondering how much bigger your bracelet should be than your wrist?

Bracelets come in all sorts of sizes and styles, making them a perfect addition to any jewelry collection.

But before you purchase a bracelet, it is important to know the size to aim for, so it can fit your wrist without being too uncomfortable.

If you use a measuring tape, measure your wrist size and simply add a quarter to one inch to your wrist size, depending on how tight you want the bracelet to be. Half an inch to your wrist size is the most comfortable bracelet size.

But how can you measure your wrist correctly without getting too cramped up with the measuring tape?

This guide has the answer you need. So stick with us and read on.

1. Determine what type of bracelet you need

There are various kinds of bracelets fixed differently, regardless of your wrist or hand size.

The size of your bracelet depends on where you intend to wear it.

Standard bracelets or watches tend to wrap the wrist completely. So if you are going for standard bracelets, you will have to measure the wrist circumstance.

To do this, you need to determine the spot on your wrist where you usually wear your bracelet or watch. It can be below the bone next to your hand or across the widest area of your wrist.

But if you are opting for an open-loop bracelet, you will have to determine the width of your wrist. Open-loop bracelets have a gap between the two ends, making it easy to slide the bracelet over the wrist.

To determine the width, pick the widest spot across your wrist. It is usually the area where the knobby bones are located on the arm.

Bracelets also come as closed-loop bangles. They have a very rigid shape, and you have to slide them across the fingers to wear them.

For closed-loop bangles or bracelets, you will measure around your knuckles. You can do this by holding your hands right in front of you. Then, sweep your fingers in such a manner that your thumb touches the pinky of your hand.

Your hand will be in the same shape as it is when you wear a bangle. You will then have to measure the circumference around your knuckles.

2. Take measurements around your hand or wrist

Once you have decided where you will take your measurements, pick a piece of string and wrap it around your wrist. The string should be about 30 cm or 1 foot long, so it’s excessive enough to wrap around.

You should place the string on a flat surface first and then set your wrist over it in such a way that your palm faces up.

Start wrapping the ends across the wrist so it’s tightly snuggled against your skin. Both of the ends will overlap somewhere in the middle.

If you are taking measurements for a closed-loop bangle, then your string should be placed on your knuckle’s top and should go over the base of your thumb.

3. Mark where the string overlaps

After ensuring the string fits perfectly against your skin, take a marker and make points on the part of the string where it is overlapping. Mark both overlapping ends of the strings for accurate measurements.

4. Measure the string against a ruler

Once you have placed the marks, you can loosen the string and place it next to a ruler.

Place the string such that the ruler’s end is in line with one of the marks on the string. Make sure the string is straight and in alignment with the ruler. Then, look for the second mark and measure how long the distance is between both the marks.

5. Add half an inch to the overall length

To ensure your bracelet fits perfectly, ideally, you should add half an inch to the overall measurement for a comfortable fit. But you can add any value from a quarter to one inch, depending upon how tight or loose you like your bracelet to be on your wrist.

You can also use a measuring tape to take the measurements around your wrist if using a strip is too complicated for you.

Make sure you take measurements two to three times just to make sure. Then add half an inch to the calculated length.
